Miscellaneous Member Information
Parent Meetings
It is expected that one parent/representative will
attend parent meetings. These meetings are essential
to provide communication and information regarding
planning, events, scheduling, fundraiser's, etc.
They are scheduled as needed. Check calendar and
newsletters for date and time.
Parent Involvement
As is true with all volunteer organizations, the
success of DGC depends on parent involvement. Parents
must sign up for one job assignment during the season.
Newsletter / Calendar
Newsletters and announcements are sent to
our membership via e-mail. We ask that
you add our e-mail address to your address book
and check your spam folders routinely since most
of our e-mails are sent to 60 addresses at a time
and are sometimes flagged as junk mail. Adding our
e-mail address will help address this problem but
does not guarantee that an e-mail will not be misdirected.
If you do not receive an e-mail
by August 25th, PLEASE call the choir line so we
can make sure you get all communications!
Please notify us if your e-mail address changes
during the season. We earnestly request that you
read and print out this information. It is meant
to keep you up to date with the latest calendar
changes and upcoming events.

Phone Tree
Situations may arise in which we need to make changes
after the regular correspondence
has been sent to the parents. In such events, the
phone tree becomes a necessary form of communication.
Your cooperation is greatly appreciated in making
this a viable line of communication for our organization.
Directory
The directory is revised at the
beginning of each season. In includes each singer's
name, her parents' names, address, phone number,
which choir she is in and which school she attends
(for the purpose of transportation/carpooling).
If there are any errors on the roster, please call
the choir line so that they can be corrected. The
membership roster is for official Danville Girls
Chorus use. Please do not use this directory to
solicit business of our members. To do so constitutes
misappropriation of corporate property.
Transportation
Getting singers to and from rehearsals, performances
and other events is the sole responsibility of parents/guardians.
Carpools may be arranged by checking the chorus
roster and calling parents who live in a nearby
area.
Summer
Music Camp -- August 8th- 12th, 2011
Summer
Music Camp is required of all singers in the Concert
Choir. Music Camp gives the music
staff an opportunity to build musical and vocal
skills, to teach new music, and to provide the individual
and small group attention that girls may need for
performing. If your daughter is in the INTERMEDIATE
or the APPRENTICE CHOIR, there is a possibility
that she may be promoted in June to the Concert
Choir. For this reason, we ask that you please make
your summer vacation plans carefully. All
Concert Choir singers MUST attend Summer Music Camp
or the promotion will not take place.
DVDs and Photography
DGC is pleased to offer each family one complimentary
DVD of each concert performance (additional DVDs
will be available for purchase). DVDs will be distributed
to the singers at rehearsal approximately 4-6 weeks
after each concert. June DVDs are handed out on
the last day of music camp, or at the start of the
new season. You will receive an e-mail, notifying
you in advance of each distribution date. We have
found that using a professional videographer allows
our families to sit back and enjoy the performances.
We have also discovered that safety hazards, such
as those created by the use of tripods, have greatly
improved.
PLEASE DO NOT VIDEOTAPE OR
USE FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY DURING THE PERFORMANCES!
The directors find this to be distracting to the
singers, and we want them to sound their best. A
short photo opportunity will be arranged following
each choir’s performance at the December and June
Concerts.
Fundraising
The See’s Candy Fundraiser begins in October. Orders
will be collected and distributed
in November. Parents are encouraged to participate
in this fundraiser by promoting the sale to family
and friends. We may also hold a See’s Candy Fundraiser
in the Spring, with delivery occurring prior to
the school’s Spring Break. For safety reasons, please
do not allow your daughter to sell
door-to-door. Monies earned from candy sales by
the Concert Choir singers are credited toward the
cost of their Spring Tour.
